Chico says "When you take your dog for a walk, be prepared. Make sure you take 2 poo bags with you (just in case your dog is in a 'giving' mood!) and if you're going to walk for more than half an hour, be sure to bring fresh water for both of you to drink."

Abby says "Remember that we dogs can only sweat through our mouths and the pads of our feet.  Even if there is a cool breeze blowing, we can overheat.  Provide shelter from direct sun, don't leave us to sit in a car that's in direct sun (even if the window is open) and whenever possible, take us swimming!  Even if we don't like going in the water, the cool sand feels marvelous!"

Note: Sand and pavement can get very, very hot during the summer.  Be aware of the temperatures; be careful to not burn and blister the pads of your dog's feet.

"Coprophagy" - comes from the Greek copro which means faeces and phagy which means to eat.

Lola says, "Some dogs really want to eat poo.  Even if your dog doesn't, please pick up after your dog so other people's dogs can't.  Thank you."

Bailey and Cowan have joined Saturday's group walk with their owners.  Says owner Patti Dale, "The best walks we've ever been on!"

"Alix is a kind, consistent and confident trainer. The group walks have opened up a great new world.  Lucky loves being part of Auntie Al's Pack."

"We just started lessons and can already see some results.  It was just a matter of Alix showing us what to do and pinpointing problem areas.  Turns out we had a little alpha issue going on!  I am starting to enjoy walking with Bailey now that the pulling is starting to get under control.

Thanks Alix. You know your stuff.  I like the way the lessons go: relaxed, positive, full of humor and with lots of information."

“Alix has all the qualities I look for in a trainer.   She has a

genuine love for dogs, is very knowledgeable and works in

a holistic manner.   Both my dog and I enjoy the walks and

what we learn along the way.  Also, it is affordable."

Radar says "Photography is an excellent way to get your dog to practice his 'sit, stay'.  Done regularly, your dog,  while not understanding what you're doing, will learn that as long as you've got that little box in front of your face, he is not to move."

Hercules says "I think my left profile is my best look."

Chico says, “During the winter, the cold can make walking really uncomfortable.  My

feet freeze on the pavement and ice.  Also, road salt irritates the skin and I get sick

   if I lick it off.  Alix has taught me to accept wearing these boots.  I don’t like them;

at the beginning of each winter season I look like I’m auditioning for Monty Python’s

Ministry of Silly Walks.  But I gotta hand it to her.  I can walk for longer periods of

time and she always makes sure the boots are dry before she puts them on me.  If

they’re not, she’s willing to walk more frequently for shorter periods of time.”
